Clinical Advances in a Restorative Practice

This course is designed to bring together the art- and science of esthetic dentistry to allow us as practitioners to provide exceptional and long-lasting care. Topics will range across many facets of the general practice from marketing using social media to occlusal considerations for esthetic success to incorporation of digital dentistry in today’s workflow. Many cases will be shown utilizing step-by-step techniques to allow the practitioner to incorporate the techniques and strategies shown into their practices and improve the delivery of patient care and satisfaction.

Do your patient’s experience post-operative sensitivity? Do you have fractures of your porcelain restorations? Do you know when to cement vs. bond? This program will feature an integrated approach to look at diagnosis and treatment planning as well as smile design, and single unit dentistry for the everyday dental practice. Techniques for all ceramic restorations will be discussed from preparation design to delivery to ensure a successful outcome. Tips and strategies will also be provided to enable the attendee to better communicate the desired outcome to both the ceramist and the patient making it a winning combination.

Do you have problems with traditional impression techniques? What materials do you use and where? Have you thought about digital scanners in your practice? Are they practical and profitable? Digital dentistry is moving quickly in implementation of the newest technologies available. All of these questions will be answered in this fast paced, interactive and informative presentation. Additionally, we will discuss how to utilize and implement digital smile design/ communication, digital planning/work flow, and digital marketing into the practice for more effective communication. This program is geared to help the practices of today prepare for the changes of tomorrow, and is suited for BOTH the dentist that regularly utilizes digital technology as well as the dentist who does not or is undecided.

However, many of our indirect procedures are costly and invasive, thereby often times limiting patient’s acceptance. This course will describe in great detail simple, predictable and cost effective direct alternatives that will improve your case acceptance and treatment outcomes.

Robert G. Ritter, DMD, received his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine in 1994. He is Adjunct Faculty Assistant Clinical Professor at both Tufts School of Dental Medicine and Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine and maintains a private practice in Jupiter, Florida that focuses on adhesive and esthetic dentistry.
Dr. Ritter holds memberships in numerous restorative, research, and esthetic organizations. He is also a board member and past President of the Florida Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and is both a Kois Center and Spear Education graduate.
Dr. Ritter is on the editorial board of Inside Dentistry and The Journal of The Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and has published numerous articles on adhesive and cosmetic dentistry. He is also an Editorial Board member of REALITY and a product consultant to numerous dental manufacturers, and lectures extensively both nationally and internationally on cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, new materials, TMJ-based dentistry, and digital technologies in and for the modern dental office.
Barry D. Hammond, DMD, Course Director, earned his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed a general practice residency in Chapel Hill, N.C. He maintained a private practice for 15 years, emphasizing restorative and esthetic dentistry. Dr. Hammond is an L.D. Pankey Institute alumnus and taught for several years with the Ross Nash Institute for Dental Learning in Charlotte, N.C. He joined the Augusta University faculty in 2006 and is an Associate Professor in the Department of General Dentistry and serves as the Director of Dental Continuing Education for The Dental College of Georgia.
Mario F. Romero, DDS, Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation and Course Director of Esthetics in Restorative Dentistry at DCG. Dr. Romero received his DDS from the University of Guayaquil (Ecuador) School of Dentistry in 1995. He completed a two year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program at the University of Rochester, Eastman Institute for Oral Health where he was granted the Handyman Award for Excellence. He attended the Dawson Academy and is the author of the book Physiologic Basis of Occlusion and its Clinical Applications published by Bausch, Germany. He maintained a private practice with emphasis in Restorative and Esthetic Dentistry for 15 years prior to joining The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University in 2013.
