Each state has the opportunity to regulate its own State Practice Act (SPA) and Scope of Practice, determining laser use by doctors and hygienists using lasers under their license. Once a hygienist determines what laser use is permitted and for which clinical procedures, the State Practice Act may also determine whether laser training or a laser certification course is required..
