This article discusses the classification systems for gingival recession and associated noncarious cervical lesions, and how these classifications may be used to aid in treatment planning. Common surgical solutions and the available grafting materials and flap designs, including their advantages and disadvantages, are also described. This article presents a novel flap design, the frenectomy anterior tunnel sulcular access channel approach, and provides a case report demonstrating its use.
