Abstract

Maxillomandibular advancement (MMA) surgery is an invasive yet potentially effective surgical option for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea in patients for whom approaches such as oral appliances and surgeries such as soft-tissue remediation and uvulopalatopharyngoplasty have failed. This continuing education article describes the MMA procedure, patient selection and work-up, and the postoperative course following MMA.
