Author Qualifications:

John Featherstone, MSc, PhD, Professor Emeritus and former Dean of the School of Dentistry at the University of California San Francisco, has spent the past 48 years studying several aspects of cariology, including the effects of lasers on hard tissue with an emphasis on caries prevention. He has conducted several clinical studies and has been responsible for implementing Caries Management by Risk Assessment in several venues over the past 20 years. He has received numerous national and international awards, including the prestigious American Dental Association Distinguished Service Award in 2023.
