Abstract

Dental unit waterlines, contaminated surfaces, and other often-overlooked reservoirs play a critical role in the chain of infection within dental settings and our job is breaking the chain of infection. These hidden sources can harbor biofilms, pathogens, and contaminants that pose significant risks to both patients and dental teams.

Michelle Strange, MSDH, RDH, is a dental hygienist, educator, and entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience. She holds a Bachelor’s in Health Science and a Master’s in Dental Hygiene Education, along with certifications in infection control and myofunctional therapy. Michelle founded MichelleStrangeRDH and Level Up Infection Prevention to support dental professionals. She is also the owner of Smile-Logic, a patient-centered dental hygiene practice in Colorado, where she combines clinical expertise with innovation to advance the profession.
