Abstract

Because stroke is common, with more than 700,000 cases annually, most dental professionals during their careers are likely to see an overlap of dental and stroke issues. Dentists may play a pivotal role in the care of these patients. This article discusses important caveats, the use of drugs for postoperative dental pain, and evidence-based recommendations. The article also explores diagnosis and management, as well as illustrating its points with a case report of a patient who briefly discontinued treatment to undergo dental surgery.
