Abstract

The Prevention of Opioid Misuse and Diversion course is designed to provide dentists with the knowledge and strategies to prevent opioid misuse, addiction and diversion in their dental practice. This session will cover key topics such as recognizing and addressing the potential for opioid misuse and diversion, strategies for patient education and informed consent, the role of prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs) in preventing misuse and recognizing signs of opioid abuse and addiction in dental patients. By the end of this course, participants will be equipped with the tools to minimize the risk of opioid related problems, enhance patient safety, and contribute to the overall effort to combat the opioid crisis.
