Bob Margeas, DDS

Dr. Margeas graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1986 and completed his AEGD residency the following year. He is currently an adjunct professor in the department of Operative Dentistry at the University of Iowa. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Operative Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Aesthetic Dentistry, a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Society for Dental Aesthetics and International Team of Oral implantologists (ITI). He has written numerous articles on esthetic and implant dentistry, and lectures and presents hands-on courses nationally and internationally on those subjects. He is currently the Editor in Chief of Inside Dentistry, on the Editorial Board of Compendium, and is a contributing editor to Oral Health in Canada. His memberships include OKU Honor Dental Society, American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Margeas maintains a full-time private practice focusing on comprehensive restorative and implant dentistry in Des Moines, Iowa.

Nathaniel Lawson, DMD, PhD

Dr. Lawson is the Director of the Division of Biomaterials at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry and the program director of the Biomaterials residency program and the interim director of the Advanced Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry residency program. He graduated from UAB School of Dentistry in 2011 and obtained his PhD in Biomedical Engineering in 2012. He has served as an investigator on over 50 research grants, published 50 peer reviewed articles, 4 book chapters, over 25 articles in trade journals, and 75 research abstracts. His research interests are the mechanical, optical, and biologic properties of dental materials and clinical evaluation of new dental materials. He was the 2016 recipient of the Stanford New Investigator Award and the 2017 3M Innovative Research Fellowship both from the American Dental Association. He has lectured nationally and internationally on the subject of dental materials. He also works as a general dentist in the UAB Faculty Practice.

Bonding to Zirconia

Marcos Vargas, BDS, DDS, MS

Dr. Vargas received his D.D.S. from the Peruvian University School of Dentistry in 1985 and completed a two year advanced education residency in general dentistry at The Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York in 1992. He received his Master of Science degree and certificate in Operative Dentistry from the University of Iowa in 1994. Dr. Vargas is an associate professor in the department of Family Dentistry at the University of Iowa. He has contributed to several texts, is on the Editorial Boards of several journals, publishes extensively and is the Operative Dentistry section editor for Practical Procedures and Aesthetic Dentistry. Dr. Vargas lectures nationally and internationally on cosmetic dentistry and is an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Academy of Operative Dentistry, the American Dental Association and the International Association for Dental Research. In addition, he maintains a part-time private practice at The University of Iowa College of Dentistry in Iowa City, IA.

This presentation will provide the attendees with the knowledge to obtain sensitivity-free restorations and prevent debonding. Tips and tricks to allow you to get the most of your adhesive system, including modern Universal Adhesives, will be discussed with a focus on how to securely bond to abfraction lesions, demineralized dentin, sclerotic dentin, dentin and enamel.

Jeff Brucia, DDS

Dr. Brucia is a graduate of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry where he has held faculty positions in the Crown and Bridge and Operative departments and currently is an Assistant Professor of Dental Practice. He is practicing Cosmetic and Restorative dentistry full time. At the FACE institute he introduces a partnership between gnathology, occlusion and adhesion. He is also director of an advanced comprehensive restorative program at Baylor College as well as being on the faculty of several other Universities. As a published author, he is honored to be a guest for the January 2001 edition for Dental Clinics of North America publication and clinical reviewer for Quintessence International. He has received Fellowships in the American and International College of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry International, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and Doctoral Degree with Delta Sigma Delta. He has worked as a developer and evaluator for new materials with manufacturers and laboratories. Dr. Brucia has lectured internationally on adhesion dentistry.
