David Blackwell
David Blackwell is the Director for Camfil’s Healthcare business with overall responsibility for growing market share in hospitals, and other healthcare facilities in the USA. His engineering background, combined with in-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical HVAC systems, allows Dave to optimize air filter solutions for healthcare facilities. Providing the best, compliant indoor air quality solution for clients, patients, and visitors is something Dave has been passionate about for a decade. Air filter optimization also reduces energy consumption and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). These operational cost reductions typically range from about 6 to 12 cents per square foot, annually for most acute care facilities. Prior to managing the healthcare segment Dave was a regional sales manager for Camfil in the southwest region of the USA. Earlier, Dave worked for a large HVAC and electrical equipment manufacturer, focusing on energy savings solutions for large facilities. Dave has become an expert on Camfil’s Life Cycle Cost (LCC) software. This software can accurately project various costs associated with air filter use in a specific facility using ASHRAE filter loading data.
Dave is an accomplished speaker on various ASHRAE standards and Guidelines, but ASHRAE 52.2 and ASHRAE 170 are most important to healthcare facilities that seek to maintain compliancy to strict indoor air quality requirements for healthcare facilities.
Recent publications include Win the Infection Control Battle by Using the Latest in Air Filter Testing, published in Facility Care Magazine for the US market and Reducing Infection through Proper Air Filtration, published in Canadian Healthcare Facility. The Healthcare Institute recently published The Multi-Million Dollar Cost for Health Systems’ Failure to Meet Clean Air Standards.
Dave and his wife Christine reside in Lubbock, Texas.
